ECE is helping companies stand up and execute with AutoCAD, BricsCAD, CADWorx, PLANT 3D, and Leica software application.
Since we specialize in industrial process facilities design (aka PLANT Design), we are helping companies streamline and satisfy process, electrical, structural and mechanical design requirements. Here is where we spend most of our time:
ECE helps companies stand up their AutoCAD, BricsCAD, and CADWorx™ applications to produce:
- Process and Instrument Diagrams
- Piping and Instrument Diagrams
- Process Flow Diagrams
- Single Line, or One Line Diagrams
- LOOP Diagrams
- Electrical Wiring Diagrams
- Terminal Block Diagrams
- and more……
Because AutoCAD Blocks are leveraged by all dwg based applications, we can apply your symbols, or tap into ours.
Companies benefit by having drawings connected to a database, so if it makes sense we encourage and help them do so.
In this way, any stakeholder can gain access to engineering and design information about systems and components and usually the CAD designers benefit from enhanced drafting capabilities too.
Set deployment objectives…..
Most companies connect P&ID drawings to a database to centralize data for equipment, lines, valves, instruments, etc. In this way, it can be consumed for many purposes. People can consume diagram data to help with many business processes, so why not connect? You can stand up a sustainable system, so let us show you how to do it.
These ‘intelligent’ diagram drawings can become the foundation to build sustainable drafting and data processing procedures.
Standard operating procedures are quickly established which usually include the integration with other engineering and enterprise applications.
ECE helps companies transfer corporate piping and pipe support standards into CADWorx™ and AutoCAD PLANT 3D.
This requirement is almost always a mandatory so why not partner with a company which has been doing this work full time of decades?
ECE has mechanical engineers and CAD Admins who can develop and maintain piping specifications.
ECE parts catalogs for pressure class, copper, non-metallic, hygienic, compression, ductile iron, electrical fittings are over 20 years in the making. There is no doubt ECE has the most extensive repository of data in the business which helps companies get to work quickly.
Delivering content via our online portal enables customers to view, download and deploy with ease.
When any sort of maintenance is required we go to work on it and capture all the changes and update within searchable service tickets.
ECE offers piping specifications at a fixed price.
Here is all we need to get started:
- Corporate piping standards
- Corporate pipe support standards
- Detail drawings for non-fitting components that are not specified standards such as ASME, API, MSS, etc.
ECE divides pipe specification into four scopes of work:
1. Includes the pipe, fittings, and valves less operators, and
2. Usershapes and TopWorks (valve operators), and
3. Pipe supports and restraints, and
4. Part numbering, or component codes.
The scope of work for item one is known, so we can offer a fixed price to accomplish it. ECE classifies your piping specifications into either a Primary and Secondary type. Basically, Primary specs will be the basis for all Secondary specs because we can copy them and make simple modifications. For example, if a company has 6 pressure class 150 specifications, there would be 1 primary and 5 secondary from our perspective.
Generally, ECE is not able to put a fixed price on items 2-4 because the scope of work varies company to company and even specification to specification. We work to help define scopes for work around these facets of pipe specification development with you to round out the pipe specification effort. Here is more information about them:
Custom Shapes
One of the most frequent questions on the ECE Design Support site is the creation of user shapes. As extensive as the CADWorx catalog is, there will always be those components that are not “out of the box” components. ECE will take your drawings and generate user shapes and help you start using these in your catalog immediately.
Custom Valve TopWorks
Does your company like to see the valve actuator drawn to scale? As with the user shapes above, CADWorx has some great “out of the box” TopWorks. If you need to add some actuators that are not in the standard CADWorx install, contact us and we can work together to generate those drawings and components to be added to your catalog.
Pipe Supports
Pipe supports are one of those necessary items that no one wants to deal with. Let ECE CAD Technologies take those cut sheets and generate your supports for you. We have done thousands of supports for our customers and will be happy to assist you in developing your support catalog.
Setting up and configuring Isogen™ requires experience, so let us help streamline its deployment on your projects.
Using the latest version of iConfigure we strive to deliver ‘no-touch’ isometrics.
In order to accomplish this, many of the thousands of settings must be configured and many of the graphic symbols must be updated to produce acceptable piping drawings.
Email ECE an example isometric and we’ll give you a fixed price to convert it to Isogen.
The power of Isogen™ is producing different drawings for purpose.
Here are some of the most popular isometric drawing types isogen can produce:
- Fabrication
- Spools
- Weld Maps
- Stress
- Support Location & Details
- Inspection
We help companies access materials that can be extracted from their CAD efforts….
AutoCAD, CADWorx, and PLANT 3D all have features to access data, but none of them to it very well, or in a manner to service most material take off (MTO) and management system (MMS) needs.
ECE helps companies with MTO and MMS requirements and helps streamline associated workflows, processes and integration with ERP/MRP systems.
Connecting user to project and business databases has never been easier.
ECE’s latest web application SOCKETWorx is helping companies connect people with data, PDF files and ScanWorlds.
ECE has training options for AutoCAD, BricsCAD, CADWorx, PLANT 3D, and Leica software application.
‘Specific on topic’, or SPOT, training is by far the most popular. During these netmeeting sessions users will be one on one with an ECE technician.
Multiple 1-2 hour sessions help users adopt features, functions and methods because they can be reinforced after exercising between them.
Alternatively, 2-3 day training courses can be conducted onsite, or in ECE’s Chicago office.
Call us to talk about scheduling some of this very cost effective SPOT, or multi-day course, training.

All this is possible because the ECE team is comprised highly skilled people and there’s no doubt they are some of the best in the business.
How about we talk about how we can become a trusted CAD Admin resource?
